And no worries: there's still plenty of time for loved ones, for sun, sea and long evenings — this mission doesn't eat the holiday. Right now it's raining. And what can I say: exactly that time is what I'm putting into this very page.

Seit vielen Jahren bewege ich mich an der Schnittstelle zwischen kaufmännischen Prozessen, Unternehmens-IT, ERP, Datenbanken und Digitalisierung. Was nach getrennten Welten klingt, gehört für mich zusammen — entscheidend ist, die Zusammenhänge zu verstehen und daraus Systeme zu bauen, die im Alltag wirklich funktionieren. Meine größte Stärke: kaufmännisches Denken mit tiefem technischem Verständnis verbinden.
Als Prokurist trage ich Handlungs- und Zeichnungsvollmacht und verantworte die Bereiche Einkauf und IT — mit Personalverantwortung, Budget- und Kostenverantwortung sowie der strategischen und operativen Steuerung beider Bereiche. Ich führe Teams, verhandle mit Lieferanten, gestalte Verträge und arbeite eng an der Schnittstelle zwischen Geschäftsführung und Fachabteilungen — mit dem Anspruch, aus Anforderungen Lösungen zu machen, die im Alltag tragen. Dazu gehört die Verantwortung für die zentrale Systemlandschaft: vom ERP (Infor COM) über Business Intelligence, Zeitwirtschaft und Betriebsdatenerfassung (BDE) bis zu Lagerverwaltung, Warenwirtschaft und EDI-Anbindungen.
Im Einkauf beschäftigen mich Beschaffung, Lieferantenmanagement, Supply Chain, Prozesse und Kosten — und gleichzeitig arbeite ich sehr nah an den technischen Systemen dahinter. Ein zentraler Bestandteil ist seit Jahren das ERP-Umfeld, insbesondere Infor COM. Ich will nicht nur wissen, dass ein System funktioniert, sondern wie — deshalb beschäftige ich mich detailliert mit Datenflüssen, Schnittstellen, Protokollen und der Kommunikation zwischen Systemen.
Mein Ansatz beginnt selten bei einer bestimmten Software, sondern beim vollständigen Ablauf: Wo entstehen die Daten? Wer braucht sie? Wo wird doppelt erfasst? Wo entstehen Fehler? Welche Schnittstellen fehlen — und was lässt sich automatisieren? Erst danach kommt die technische Lösung. „Das haben wir schon immer so gemacht" ist für mich kein Argument — aber Neues ist auch nicht automatisch besser. Am Ende muss es zuverlässig und ohne unnötige Komplexität laufen.
Immer wichtiger wird für mich Automatisierung und KI — weniger der Hype, mehr die Frage, wo sie echten Nutzen bringt: KI-Agenten in bestehende Abläufe einbinden, Informationen automatisiert auswerten, Dokumentationen erstellen, Software und Datenstrukturen analysieren. KI ist für mich kein Ersatz für Erfahrung, sondern ein Werkzeug — richtig eingesetzt mit enormen Möglichkeiten.

Ein eigenentwickeltes Web-Portal, das das ERP-System Infor COM um moderne, browserbasierte Fachanwendungen erweitert — konzipiert, gebaut und betrieben als Einzelentwickler.
Es entsteht bei einem mittelständischen, familiengeführten Zulieferer der Küchenmöbelindustrie — der sich nicht als reiner Fertiger versteht, sondern als Technologie- und Prozessgestalter und System-/Lösungsanbieter: von der Bestellung bis zur Fakturierung, alles aus einer Hand.
Und das Beste: Genau die Haltung, die dieses private Projekt antreibt — Neugier, technische Tiefe, Dinge zu Ende bringen — wird im Unternehmen nicht nur geduldet, sondern gefördert. Technologieoffen, mit echtem Vertrauen in die Mannschaft — in ihr Know-how, ihre Kompetenz und ihren Ehrgeiz. Ich glaube, genau daran liegt es, dass hier Besonderes entsteht.
Das ERP bleibt führend für Stammdaten, Aufträge und Buchungen. NEON liest live mit, veredelt die Daten zu Auswertungen, Plantafeln und Erfassungsmasken und schreibt eigene Bewegungsdaten in ein separates Schema zurück — das ERP wird nie kompromittiert. Nutzbar dort, wo Infor COM an Grenzen stößt: am Shopfloor, am Scanner, im Browser, auf dem Tablet — ohne Client-Installation, ohne Zusatzlizenzen.

The menu is generated at runtime from AD OUs and groups. New module = one AD entry, no code deploy.
All views work directly on the Infor COM tables (Oracle), index- and filter-optimised.
A shared shell with light/dark, spotlight search and tab navigation — every module follows the same template.

The trigger
With the shutdown of the old mobile networks, the Truma iNet Box can no longer keep its SMS remote service running. What would remain: control only within radio range, via an app whose future no one guarantees.
I didn't want to declare the box obsolete for that reason. Quite the opposite.
I wanted to give it a second, better chance.
The work
Captured the radio traffic between vehicle and onboard tech — signal by signal, until the pattern became visible.
Understood the devices' language piece by piece: which command does what, which value means what. Plain text.
Took every system out of its island and brought it onto one single, self-operated platform. One cockpit for everything.
Why the original box stays
The iNet Box stays deliberately installed. Should my project ever die, everything runs again just like from the factory — no lost original functions, no dead end. All I need is a browser and the occasional glance.
And honestly: I believe this will outlast, in its life cycle, much of what the caravan industry rolls out today. I've just experienced exactly that, painfully — SMS remote control dies with the 2G shutdown. Truma confirms the consequences itself. The successor exists — but doesn't blow me away. How many boxes with exactly this setup are out there, I don't know; one thing is clear: this one will outlive them all.

Systems that each used to live in their own app now talk to each other — reverse-engineered and unified on one platform.

That's what everyone I show it to asks me.

Why all this
This topic never felt quite whole to me. Every manufacturer has something great — but nothing complete. They can't, either: much is added on after the factory. So I brought it together — into one whole.
Honestly: you do need to be tech-minded. Without any IT and technical understanding? Hardly doable. But that was exactly the appeal.

It continues
We all know it: either everything's frozen or everything's warm — the Thetford fridge rarely hits the perfect point. I'm getting access to its bus and letting it regulate itself. No more “two steps up, one down”.
Here too the SMS topic is a pain — so it belongs in the world of Van Control. Already under way. All that's missing is a place where I can let it blare in peace for testing. 😄
Wireless sensors on the bottles — so it never runs out mid-cooking and the swap is due in good time.
A Shelly RGBW switches an LED strip under the awning (and maybe indoors) — straight from Van Control. Around €50–80, a little tech understanding, installation and some tweaking of the system until it runs.
A perennial motorhome topic: clearance height. Goal: camera + AI recognise height-limit signs early — and an alarm warns when the vehicle won't fit underneath. Runs on a Raspberry Pi.
Questions that always come up
No — but tech-minded. Without any IT and technical understanding it's hardly doable. That was exactly the appeal.
No extra hardware. Only the domain: €15 for three years. Everything runs on the onboard computer that's there anyway.
Via the browser — worldwide, secured, with no open port on the network. Internet is enough, even from an internet café if need be.
Van Control depends on no third-party service. I build the rules myself — whatever is technically possible gets done.
Everyone actually asks that. 😄 Right now it's a private project — built for the joy of it.
A little aside to smile at
The iNet Box is the gateway into the motorhome — and was my original problem child. Because I wanted to reach it from outside and the domain was going cheap, that's what I chose. Not out of stinginess — but because I was thinking of the original topic. And bam: an annoyance turns into a flow that suddenly unites many things.
